A small exhibition about Manuel Caetano de Sousa, the architect who discovered the Roman Theatre in April, 1798. His name remained forgotten for a long time, having been supplanted  by Italian architect Francisco Xavier Fabri. Only recently, with the discovery of new documents at the Real Library of Rio de Janeiro, has it been possible to recognise the real importance of Manuel Caetano de Sousa as well as prove that he was the “true discoverer” of Lisbon’s Roman Theatre.
