The mandala represents a complete and perfect universe, full of precious objects. In this activity, aimed at children aged 6 to 12, we’ll explain the meaning of mandalas, allowing them to take a glimpse at this perspective on the universe and play with symbols and colours. The mandala originated as a circle containing within it drawings of geometric shapes, human figures and an array of colours. They are found in religions like Buddhism and Hinduism, as well as in the cultures of indigenous North American tribes such as the Sioux.
In partnership with the Buddhist Union, we challenge everyone to come and make a mandala at the Museu de Lisboa-Palácio Pimenta.
