This could have been a dated concert, were it not for the works of Brazilian Ernani Aguiar and Englishman John Francis Wade, a name which few associate with Adeste Fideles ("O Come, All Ye Faithful"), but who is in fact responsible for the carol reaching the present day in form we know it. In addition to these works, the programme will focus on the compositions of the grand masters of Baroque, such as Arcangelo Corelli and Sebastian Bach, before ending to the sound of Canticorum and Joy to the World by George Frideric Händel, two musical pieces which need no introduction and fit perfectly into the festive atmosphere of the Christmas season.

Located in one of Lisbon’s fastest-growing areas, the Alto do Lumiar Church (dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel) features a series of stained glass windows at its main altar, some alluding to fishing and Saint Peter, with others narrating the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist.
