Despite its austere façade, when you walk into São Roque Church, you discover an interior enriched by gilded wood carvings, paintings and tiles from the 16th and 17th centuries, making up an important collection of decorative Mannerist and Baroque art.
In keeping with the church’s characteristics, Orquestra Orbis will be performing a Christmas concert with pieces written for chamber orchestras by great composers, from the Baroque period to modernism. They will also perform pieces by composer Pedro Teixeira da Silva, who has helped define a new stylistic movement in the classical music scene and been well received by the public.
