DANCE HALL
Dancer/Teacher: Melissa Cardoso
Musicians: Xalalá (Ricardo Don e Denny Azevedo)
Dancehall was born in the ghettos of Jamaica and moves to the sound of raggamuffin, a musical style typical of the country. Raggamuffin is similar to reggae, but with a more electronic sound. In the beginning, the steps resembled those of hip-hop, but over time the dancers began to create their own styles. It’s a solo dance, with an emphasis on the hips and chest, which explores sensuality and fun.
