Orquestra Jazz de MatosinhosMusic
with Manuela Azevedo
This unmissable concert brings together two of the most celebrated names in Portuguese music: the Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos and singer Manuela Azevedo.
Over recent years the Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos has been involved in a series of projects using vocalists originating from the most varied musical genres; from jazz (Dee Dee Bridgewater or singer Maria João) to Brazilian music (Maria Rita) and world music (Mayra Andrade), creating original arrangements for sets never before heard Big Band-style.
For this show, which is also a celebration of the orchestra’s 20th anniversary, they have invited one of the most high profile singers in Portuguese music: Manuela Azevedo, especially known for her long career as vocalist in Clã. The song selection for this concert reflects the singer’s choices and will bring together some classics from the American and French songbook, Música Popular Brasileira and even Clã themselves.
