At Lisboa na Rua, we want to encourage reading, arousing curiosity and stimulating discovery. Therefore, we’ve created an open-air reading space: a garden with books, open to all, on September weekends.
At this space (which we’ve christened Bibliófilo, or book-lover), there’ll be stories for little ones on Sunday mornings and readings for grown-ups in the evening. These readings will invite you to make a “Journey in Search of Amazement”, in a year of commemorations marking Ferdinand Magellan’s circumnavigation of the globe. Literature is, very often, a translation of this sense of wonder. This is the pretext for us to set off in discovery of literary geographies which are distant but, at the same time, close to each of us. More than just following the navigator’s route, we’ll go in search of the whole world that he opened up to us. Over four sessions, there’ll be readings of poems and excerpts of stories and novels from authors, and times, which still map out our desire for wonder.
