Ecotemporâneos is a reading group which meets in Lisbon’s green spaces. At each session we learn about the history of the park from its gardener and a special guest is invited to present a book for discussion, including its relationship with the surrounding park.

Looking ahead to a more ecological future (Lisbon will be European Green Capital in 2020), the contemporary arts biennial (BoCA) has launched, in partnership with EGEAC, a project promoting the use of the city’s green spaces through an inclusive reading community. Beginning in April of this year, it will continue into next year and aims to make the city’s parks and gardens more accessible and more widely enjoyed. We’ll be asking: can reading become an act which reflects currents times and biodiversity and at the same time be a widely inclusive and artistic gesture?
