The Gulbenkian Orchestra returns to the Praça do Comércio and is bringing with it the young musicians from Generation Orchestra, on a night dedicated to compositions inspired by war that will mark the opening of the Festas de Lisboa ’18.
In times of uncertainly and conflict, it is in art and by default in music, that we find refuge and conflict. With eyes focussed on the future, the Gulbenkian Orchestra and the Generation Orchestra will review the great compositions that evoke war and historic feats of the past.
From the 1812 Overture (composed by Tchaikovsky to celebrate the failure of the French invasion of Russia) to the Star Wars soundtrack (composed by John Williams), the Praça do Comércio will be overwhelmed by the great sounds of History.
