Festas de Lisboa’19 Sardine Contest

Next month will be a creative and environmentally-friendly one, with Sardines the inspiration.

Under the “100% Sardine” slogan, the Festas de Lisboa’19 Sardine Contest is embarking once again on a trip around the world of the imagination, promoting the creation of the best-ever sardine design in the name of sustainable development.

Having helped to preserve the species in last year’s “saving the sardine” campaign, this year we’re continuing and widening our appeal: “Down with Carbon, long live Omega 3”; “Low consumption, Natural Shine”: “Zero Footprint, Maximum Buoyancy”. Inspiration isn’t lacking!

From today (27 March) the competition is open to everyone, of all ages and nationalities. And to mark this 9th year of the contest, we’ve decided to go a little further with a new contest aimed at Primary School pupils from across the country running in tandem.

EGEAC (Empresa de Gestão de Equipamentos e Animação Cultural) is now taking this initiative to schools with the debut of the Turma da Sardinha Contest. This new contest aims to encourage the participation of pupils from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles of the Portuguese school system and has a later submission deadline: design entries will be accepted until 30 April.

The winning school of the Turma da Sardinha Contest will win a prize of €2000 and their entry will be included in the Festas de Lisboa’19 publicity campaign, alongside other winners.

The Festas de Lisboa Sardine Contest will once again be awarding five applicants with a prize of the same value and, as in last year’s contest, the public will select 5 applicants to receive honourable mention through a vote on social networks.

All winning designs will be announced by 31 May.

The Contest regulations are available at www.culturanarua.pt. For any queries, please read the FAQ section or contact EGEAC at concursosardinhas@culturanarua.pt.
