June, month of holidays

We are counting down to the start of the Festas de Lisboa. A month full of initiatives, where various Arts pass, with free activities for all tastes and ages.

The festivities kick off on World Children's Day, June 1, with the opening of a new theater in the city, dedicated to the youngest. Throughout the month, LU.CA - Luís de Camões Theater - in Ajuda will present several free shows and allow visits to this new cultural space in Lisbon. The stage is also one of the newest at the Opening Concert, on June 2, when the young musicians from Orquestra Geração join the Orquestra Gulbenkian at Terreiro do Paço, with a musical program for the whole family that includes themes such as the soundtrack of Star Wars.

There are no Festas de Lisboa without Popular Marches and this year the inspiration is Vasco Santana and the song of lisbon. A tribute to the city in the year that marks the 120th anniversary of its birth and 60th anniversary of its disappearance. Vasco is longing is the winning theme of the Grande Marcha, which will be performed by all Popular Marches on the night of Santo António, giving voice to Lisbon's neighborhoods. The festivities are also held in the street with the fairs, which last throughout the month; with the tradition of the Santo António weddings and, of course, with the Sardines. From the 1st of June and throughout the month, you will be able to see up close the winners and dozens more, in the exhibition save the sardinethan at the Millennium Gallery, on Rua Augusta.

This edition of the Festas could not pass alongside the 20th anniversary of Expo'98, a turning point in the city's cultural life, which we will remember with a multimedia show and the return of Olharapos, at the Pala do Pavilhão de Portugal, and with the exposure You are not here, which brings together around 70 photographs by Bruno Portela to recall what the eastern part of Lisbon was like before the Expo.

The city's cultural diversity will be present at the Lisboa Mistura Festival and the Diversity Festival, at Ribeira das Naus, at Castelo there is Fado com Carminho, Camané and Carlos do Carmo and let's not forget the Summer Choir Festival and Com'Paço.

The Parties say goodbye with Gilberto Gil at the Jardim da Torre de Belém, on the 30th. Refavela 40 brings us a free-entry concert that promises to infect you with the warm sounds of reggae, samba and American funk.

With Rui Sousa's illustrations of Lisbon in the background, June promises to be a month of great animation.

Dont miss! Join us at the Festas de Lisboa 2018!
